Backburner Art #14b- The Henry Stickmin Collection (Escaping the Prison)
Studying more of the Puffball artstyle, including backgrounds.

Here's where I started understanding more on how to draw Henry stick figures. In fact, this entire piece is a step-up from what was before.
Henry's face is now visible, and he's using a cell-phone to call Felix White, who has an entire chat bubble to himself. I did this by using two layer effects: stroke (for the white border), and drop shadow.
Felix himself I'm actually proud of myself for drawing him. His hair is mimicking Phoenix Wright, so of course it has that anime edginess to it.
The police here are alright. I think I did good here. However, I have two issues with how I did things here. First off, I didn't feel like drawing two different kinds of guns for them, so they got the same one. I drew it too small though, in my opinion. Same with their hands. My other problem is the chief to the right of the picture. He was the first one I drew of the police, and honestly I should've curved his spine like everyone else's. He looks like he's trying to flaunt.
The background was the most interesting thing to study. I don't do good with trying to come up with interior details when I draw, but this showed that it doesn't need to be complicated to look detailed. It's a concrete prison, yet the inside areas where more people frequent actually look decent. The wall is one color for most of it, with a new color 2/3rds of the way down. There is a pillar that has 3 parts to it (the part in between is covered up almost by Henry's big-ass head), just detailed enough to look aesthetically pleasing.
Knowing that I drew this (despite heavily using reference from the game) gives me hope that I can do good backgrounds eventually. I just need to be able to differentiate the background from the characters for the most part. It's one thing I struggle with, which is why with the UNDERTALE Pacifist completion art I attempted colored lineart for the background too. I get better with the rest of these ones too, background-wise.
