Backlog Art #26- Pikmin 2
Easing up on filters, but still making use of shading and gradients.

I had fun making this one. I also experimented with a few things here.
The helmets, for one. The first Pikmin completion art has his helmet with lineart. It actually gets in the way a bit if you want to have more room for your character's stuff. Also I tried seeing if I can use a blend mode with the helmet, but eventually I thought it best to just have its opacity lowered.
I'm proud of that burning purple pikmin, hence named Carl. This was based off of him being burned in an early stream of Pikmin 2, where I was showing off the "Your pikmin is burning alive" cutscene, which freeze-framed on the geyser in front of Carl shooting out even more flame. It was funny as all hell.
The lighting here is amazing, if I do say so myself. Everyone has their own light source, and I had fun doing the shading on everything. I also made sure that I didn't bog down the art with a bunch of blend-mode filters. I did some research on what rendering is, and it's just lineart, color, and shading, plus some extra effects if needed. Trying to make all my pieces look cool by having a bit of a filter isn't needed, in fact a lot of my previous pieces could've looked better without them. Alas, such is the way of learning. The only gradients being used are the ones making the surrounding scene look darker, as well as the glow of both the captain antennas & the fire emanating from Carl.
