Special Art #2- Birthday Stream

The best drawing for a special day...

Special Art #2- Birthday Stream
Two accomplishments; one night.

This was a fun stream, and I also got to chat with someone who saw quite a few of my Rain World streams live. Also before even getting into the breakdown of this drawing, I have to say that I think this is one of my favorite pictures I've drawn, period.

Let's switch the format here up a bit; this time we will be talking about the foreground stuff first.

Those dead lizards (which look cute despite being dead) are, for the most part, oblong things with spikes on the backside, with a lump behind them representing their bodies. You can see six of them here: Green (heavy, durable, strong charge, don't-give-a-shit), Black (blind, hard-to-see), Blue (small, tongue, wall-climbing), Yellow (cooperative packs, antenna telepathy), White (wall-climbing, camouflage, tongue), and Pink (pole-climbing, aggressive). These are the six lizards I killed for the Passage Challenge I got [Dragon Slayer].

The three brown Mario Pipes (with Bhuster Scug standing on the middle one) and a little bit of detail in the background showcase that I am in Pipeyard, where I completed my expedition. I enjoyed setting this scene up.

Bhuster Scug is just my scugsona, as in "I still wanted to customize my slugcat but I can't in Expedition Mode, so this slugcat is literally me." Same color for the skin and eyes. Nose is the same color as the eyes, just like how the face color works in the game. Their head and their ears are shaped similarly to Bhuster's head and ears, albeit with the ears being more on top of the head. He's holding a spear to show that he killed the lizards, and he's holding a peace sign because that's referencing another Passage Challenge I got [The Saint].

The two floating symbols are called Vista Points. I enjoyed making them. I made a design, skewed it to kinda look better perspective-wise, then added an inner glow of white and an outer fuzzy-pixelated white glow. Vista Points are only in Expedition Mode for the Vista Visiting Challenges, of which I had two [Industrial Complex's and Pipeyard's].

Now, finally, onto the blurry thing in the background.
[SPOILERS FOR RAIN WORLD]

Echoes are people who ascended wrong in this universe, being a remnant of the past stuck in one spot due to some desire they still hung onto. All the ones we've seen are the ancients from a long distant past in the world's timeline. In-game, these increase your max karma. They usually require you to visit them near your highest karma once, then visit them next cycle, but there are two exceptions. One of the, the Exterior Echo, is the one that I had for my Echo challenge. It was the only challenge visible to me when I started the expedition, which upon completion unlocks visibility of the hidden challenges. This explains why it is here.

I used some more messy brushes using their base color to form their ball of tentacles, with a different, less messy brush forming some of the visible tentacles, then making the one that has the head much thicker. The tips of the loose tentacles are brushed over with another messy brush using yellow/gold. The head is just coated with the color. This gives it the golden flaky look it has in game. I made it blurry so that it looks more like it's in the background, and possibly maybe making sure that some people don't get spoiled by what it looks like clearly.

All-in-all, this piece is fuckin' flawless in my eyes, and for a piece made about my birthday stream, I wouldn't have it any other way.

[Fun Fact: I got the Industrial Vista & Saint Passage before unlocking visibility of my other 4 challenges through the echo]
