Feb 2023 Update
Brustle

Heyo.

I know I haven't posted anything in a few days. So... I'm making an update here. First off:

Let's Play

I have recorded more episodes to edit. It's been fun so far playing through that episode. The creator has done a good job making levels (even if I end up raging at them). I've also been figuring out how to make things look better, such as adding a background to fill up the empty space (and to add my style). In addition, I am working on thumbnails for the videos.

Yes, thumbnails.

I haven't researched recently, but I want to find a place to put these videos, and embed a playlist of sorts onto a page here, for easy findings. The way I've been doing it now, having each episode on different pages & the mp4's directly embedded into the page, is gonna make looking for an episode a drag. Especially considering the layout at the moment (which I might try to experiment with as well).

Whatever ends up working out, I hope it allows thumbnails. For now, though, they'll be the feature images to their respective parts' pages.

Rambles

I want to do more of what I've been calling "rambles." The only one I have at the moment is the post about Rain World's music (I'll get to that game further on). As a fan of many things art, I like gushing about certain topics. I want to talk more about those kinds of things, just sharing all my thoughts about cool things.

Since I love art, music, games, stories, and horror, I want to make posts about everything about these things.

At the moment, I have no idea what I want the next ramble to be. It'll come to me soon, though.

Projects

After editing three videos with my video editing software, I've been thinking about making an animated series of sorts. One that uses a bunch of assets instead of, y'know, actually animating everything.

While I have some ideas, I need to flesh some things out more. There's a lot I want to figure out, and I want to make sure that I pick the good ones. I might make another post about it later, but just know that I'm planning something.

I do also want to attempt a series that has choices made by others. I know that I'm mainly using this site as a place for stuff I do, and I haven't been pushing this out towards anyone that I don't know, but that's still an idea of mine. Who knows, maybe one day I'll do such a thing.

Misc.

Now for some other not-too-important notes.

Blender

I've been wanting to make some models for my avatar for a long while. Mostly, I want to use them as player models for stuff like Garry's Mod, Left 4 Dead, probably some other games, and possibly some other stuff.

One slight problem though: I'm a 2D artist, not a 3D one.

I work much better designing in a 2 dimensional space. I have a better idea laying out details and such that way, plus I have better control in general of how everything looks. Adding another dimension messes with me a bit, and keeping track of all the edges, points, and faces (both their position and their quantity) can become tiresome.

This brings me to two choices: simplify what I have right now, or commission some models.

Simplifying what I have right now requires undoing all the parts I don't like, using less faces than I currently have (which I believe is a thing I need to be careful of), and a bit more planning. However, it's quite time-consuming to do all of that, especially since I'm not that good at it to begin with. Also, if I am somehow able to get to the rigs, I won't be able to make complicated rigs that look fantastic and smooth, especially for the expressions of the face.

Commissioning someone, however, can (potentially) grant me better models. At the expense of my money. Also, the only actual commission I have requested was from a friend of mine on Discord (best $30 ever spent). I am able to speak and have conversation with someone I don't know, but asking someone I don't know to make some models for me is a bit scary. The chance that they have a poor attitude, asking a random person on the internet to make something that means a lot to me, a chance that I might not like the end result or they don't get certain stuff right, that kind of fear.

Yet with all of that, it still feels like a tough choice. Thankfully, I don't need models for anything. It's just a want.

Recent Games

Rain World. I've been attempting to play through this game over the past few days. I want to at least beat the game as the Survivor before I watch any videos that have spoilers.

However, I am also a greedy bastard.

There are these weird mechanical tentacle-arm projectors around all regions in the game. A lot of them are just decoration, but occasionally you'll find one that projects a hologram of a diamond of sorts. These have 3 colors: Yellow, Blue, and Red. When you collect one, you unlock stuff in Arena Mode, which has stuff like Sandbox, Competitive, Challenges, and Safari.

Yellow and Blue are for maps and items/creatures, respectively. Red is for that region's Safari Mode.

The game keeps track of what you've unlocked on the Hibernation Screen, which is what I've been using to help me on my quest to unlock everything. Also, a map from the community that has all the unlocks.

Almost all the unlocks.

With the DLC out, each region not only has more rooms, but there are also new regions and subregions. People in the community have not made a map for these rooms and regions yet, and the Safari Mode unlocks are new to either the Remix update or the actual DLC itself. So I have to find all of these Safari unlocks by myself (and no, I am not going to unlock everything in the cheats menu, I want to collect these myself).

My current location is the Gutter, which appears to be a subregion of the Chimney Canopy, a place known for lots of colorful lizards, many vultures, and some scavengers every once in a while. The Gutter is from the DLC, so it's a new place, and it appears that people haven't mapped it out yet. So I actually have to explore, which isn't bad. It looks cool. I just wish I am able to find those tokens soon. I had my eyes set on a location known as the Shaded Citadel.

Anyways, I've gone on long enough. Next post is most likely going to be more parts to the LP I'm doing. Look forward to some adjustments to the design of the videos. See ya.
